Why is my front or top load washer not draining?

To help you understand why your washer is not draining, here are some troubleshooting tips that may identify the source of the problem:

  • Verify that the Drain Pump Filter is not clogged with dirt, lint, or other items.
  • Check if the drain hose is too far down inside the drainpipe (standpipe) or laundry tub.
  • Ensure there is a gap between the drain hose and the drainpipe to allow air to flow through.
  • Check that the top of the drain is at least 30″ (76.2 cm) high (as measured from the floor).
  • Check if the drain hose was installed correctly.
  • Make sure the drain hose is not kinked or clogged.
  • Ensure you are always using the correct amount of High-Efficiency detergent. (for HE washers).

Why does my clothing have white residue after washing?

If you are noticing that your washer leaves white residue on black clothes, here are a few tips that may help you identify the source of the problem:

  • Ensure you are always using the correct amount of High-Efficiency detergent (for HE washers).
  • Check if you are using the correct cycle selection and temperature for the fabric being washed.
  • Ensure that your washer is not overloaded or packed too tightly.
  • Confirm that you are not mixing colours.
  • We recommend cleaning your washer monthly to reduce build-up of excess detergent.

Why is my washer door not locking?

The door lock, also known as the interlock, is an important safety mechanism on your front or top load washer. If your washer door is not locking these troubleshooting tips may help you determine why:

  • Check if the cycle has recently started. The door will not lock for approximately 10 seconds after starting a cycle.
  • Verify that there is nothing blocking the door or the lock mechanism.
  • Check if the lock needs to be cleaned.

Why is my washer making noise?

How to prepare for your washer installation.

  • Make sure the electrical outlet is securely attached to the wall or floor and meets the National Electrical Code requirements for washers.
  • The installer will only turn the water off at the specific valve where washer water lines are attached. House main water valves won’t be turned off.
  • Make sure water shutoff valves are in a safe and accessible location. Otherwise, the installer will not be able to access it.
  • The installer won’t reconnect or reuse any existing water or drain lines.
  • The installer won’t connect too hot or cold water supplies or drain pipes that are less than 39″ above the floor.
