Common Dishwasher Problems

If your dishwasher isn’t performing the way you expect, it can disrupt your routine. Here are some common problems with dishwashers, along with some troubleshooting tips.

Common Dishwasher Problems

Why is my dishwasher not draining?

To help you understand why your dishwasher won’t drain, here are some troubleshooting tips that may help you identify the source of the problem:

  • Check if there is too much standing water in the filter area.
  • Check if the door is open or unlatched.
  • Verify that the water supply valve is turned on.
  • Determine if the overfill protection float is restricted. Remove obstructions from the float area. Move the float up and down to see if it moves freely. The overfill protection float (in the front right corner of the dishwasher tub) keeps the dishwasher from overfilling. It must be in place for the dishwasher to operate.
  • Check for any food or obstructions caught in the drain, filter or the garbage disposer (if applicable).

If you’re still finding that your dishwasher won’t drain, our Certified Technicians can help.
